100 Days Gone… and still so much to do!

It all began 100 days ago today on March 23rd 2020, when lockdown wasn’t being talked about it was being actioned!

How has it been for you? Did you do the decorating, did you clear the attic? Oh, and with all that glorious weather I bet your suntan looks amazing, like you’ve been on holiday! I know it doesn’t feel like we have been away and so many of us have been unable to see loved ones.

I have missed several funerals because of the travel restrictions, coping mentally for me has been a struggle. Dark days with very little light to see my way, numb and heavy of heart. There is a constant feeling that it is all a dream, and someone will wake me up from this 100-day slumber.

On the positive side, Thursdays at 8pm were great, a tribal national collective, celebrating all those working on the front line. The streets, avenues, crescents and cul-de-sacs echoed to the sound of applause showing our appreciation and thanks.

Captain Tom who celebrated his 100th birthday on the 30th April, walked laps around his garden for the NHS and raised 32 million pounds. He was also knighted by the Queen and there was a flypast in his honour. This is a link to his Just Giving page.

I did filter the amount of news I listened to or read as it wasn’t helpful to me. I filled my time with calling friends and chatting like we used to before texts abbreviated our thoughts and emotions with emojis. My Spanish has improved with weekly lessons from my fluent Spanish speaking son. Note to self, I will be booking that bucket list trip to Ibiza for 2021.

The other thing that I have enjoyed immensely during this hundred-day sojourn was signing up to new podcasts and talking books. A throwback to when I was little, reading veraciously and being read to, it soothes my mind and helps me to escape. The variety of topics is pretty diverse, what do you think? Click the links take a listen, read the introductions and enjoy the opportunity to escape, we aren’t out of the woods yet!

Stay safe.
